Adrian Bates is the first ceramicist we have shown in FORM: The Sculpture Show at Sculpture by the Lakes.
Originally from a graphics background Adrian has been working with clay since 1999 and has been a full time professional maker of ceramics for over 10 years. His work explores themes of growth, transition and transformation and aims to capture a sense of movement in simple, timeless and elegant forms.
Adrian's pieces are thrown and slab-built, fired to 990 degrees C and high-fired to 1260 degrees C, unglazed pieces to 1200 degrees C. All outdoor pieces are fully frost resistant.
