Nicola Axe is a British sculptor working primarily in Portland stone, creating meditative,
graceful forms which balance figuration and abstraction. Her work draws deeply from nature and spirituality resulting in contemplative sculptures that exude quiet strength and innerstillness.
In 2009 Nicola discovered her passion for working in stone, inspired by sculptors Modigliani and Brancusi as well as the serenity found in Buddhist and yogic traditions, her elongated Heads, Shells and Elemental forms are developed with a sense of calm and intention.
Based near the sea in her South Devon studio on the Cockington Court Estate, Nicola's work has expanded to include tactile Sea Life forms which invite close observation. Octopus, Stingray, Turtles and Sea Jellies are carved in the enduringly beautiful alabaster and serpentine stones. Her work has been exhibited across the UK and she is a member of the Southwest Sculptors.
We're delighted to be introducing her beautiful work to the sculpture park as part of FORM The Sculpture Show 2026.
