all facets of life both wild and domestic throughout the seasons.
An allegory of Winter beauty. A celebration of our hardiest wildlife and enduring nature.
When the cold winter months descend and the world seems quiet and dark; our landscape is alive with young Deer, foraging Red Squirrels, and silent Barn Owls. Architectural mushrooms cling to rotten logs, nestled on our forest floors peppered with cyclamen and ivy.
Reminders of human life and British heritage are intertwined in this work. From the soft knitted scarf and bunches of dried wheat stuffed into a leather satchel, to the magnificent crown of Margaret Of York and the Wallace Sword. A decanter of whisky enjoyed, lies empty under the Christmas roses.
For the sharp eyed, the books are all British classics by Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie, something cosy to curl up with,
while the playing cards are for the dying breed of people who enjoy playing a round of racing demon or solitaire of an evening in the winter. I'll leave the other references to a stereotypical winter's day hobby for you to discover, there also maybe a subtle nod to the other British classic Alice in Wonderland about a girl who gets lost in stories and nature....
