Paintings for the New Era of Innocence: Fernando Velázquez in Conversation

In celebration of his solo exhibition, we are honoured to welcome Fernando for a talk and open engagement around Paintings for the New Era of Innocence.

A passionate artist and educator, Fernando will share his intuition that we are entering a new era - one in which a new kind of artist is emerging, shaped by a world in rapid metamorphosis. Participation will matter. Technology will stretch the borders of what we call art.

Yet even in the face of this expansion, Fernando remains devoted to the slowness of the hand, to the resistance of physical gesture, to the deep mystery of materials. Painting may become obsolete. Let it. It will return - transformed, raw, and human once more.

As Fernando says

"Because no matter how the world shifts, artists will always return to the same elemental truths: life, death, love, fear, and the fragile wonder of being human. Everything else is noise."
