Paintings for the New Era of Innocence

February 14 - March 21, 2026

In Paintings for the New Era of Innocence,  Fernando Velázquez presents a new body of work that stands as a quiet yet powerful act of resistance against acceleration, inhumanity, and the rising dominance of artificial intelligence. These paintings champion the handmade, revealing fragility, patience, and process whilst asserting the enduring value of human touch in an increasingly mechanized world.

Though firmly physical in appearance, the works are charged with emotion. Fernando describes his intention as “creating a perfume that emanates life,” inviting each viewer to become an essential presence in completing the work. This sensorial, almost intimate exchange underscores the artist’s belief in art as a living encounter rather than a static object.

This exhibition calls us to reflect on the human condition, our singular way of perceiving existence, from the tenderness of small gestures to the vastness of universal questions. In an era of speed and spectacle,  Fernando Velázquez offers a space of pause, contemplation, and renewed innocence.

Fernando will be present at the Opening on Saturday 14th February - all are welcome from 10am - 4pm.

We are delighted to extend an invitation to you to come to the gallery on Friday 20th February for 11am when we are honored to have the opportunity to hear Fernando talk and engage about Paintings for the New Era of Innocence.
