This is my only one colour print - it was a self imposed challenge to design an image full of different marks and patterns (but only one colour!) because I wanted to see if I could do it and make an exciting, readable image. I designed the print when I lived in a city, and longed for long open winding country roads to cycle down. I'm not sure if the cyclists are in fact one cyclist in sequence, or a whole gang of them - the viewer can decide! The design is influenced by a cycling print made by Grosvenor School artist Lill Tschudi, and also compositionally also inspired by a landscape print looking over the M25, by Gail Brodholt. It was selected by Grayson Perry for the 2022 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, where it hung very proudly on a lemon yellow wall!
