Anthony Theakston studied ceramics for six years, graduating from Bristol with an Honours Degree in Ceramics followed by a Master of Arts Degree in Ceramic Design in 1990 from Cardiff University.
After completing his studies, he lectured for five years at Camberwell College of Arts and at Falmouth School of Art while establishing himself as a studio ceramicist.
Anthony became a Crafts Council selected maker in 1991, travelling under their umbrella to exhibit at major events such as the Gift Fairs in New York and San Francisco. Early representation came from Adrian Sassoon and Contemporary Applied Arts, along with numerous galleries in both the UK and the USA.
He exhibits regularly at many of the leading UK craft, design, and ceramics fairs, and is also represented at European Art Fairs by his gallery in the Netherlands with a gallery in Italy too.
In recent years he has been working with a foundry to cast his ceramic sculptures in bronze, enabling a larger scale than is possible with slip-cast ceramics.
His designs are collected and exhibited worldwide, and examples of his work are held in several museums in the UK, notably The British Council Crafts Collection London, The Ashmolean Museum, Oxford and The Fitzwilliam Museum Contemporary Design Collection, Cambridge.
We are thrilled to introduce you to his serene and beautiful ceramics as part of FORM The Sculpture Show.
