Laura Boswell is a printmaker based on the west coast of Scotland whose work explores space, light and atmosphere in wild coastal landscapes. Inspired by changing weather and the meeting of sea and land, her prints focus on the feeling of place rather than direct representation.
Working in reduction linocut, she builds layered images from a single block, gradually cut away through the process. Her work is influenced by Japanese aesthetics, particularly yohaku no bi, the beauty of empty space, balancing detailed mark-making with areas of openness and stillness.
