Our SUMMER SHOW makes its seasonal return to the gallery with a vibrant and joyful collection of original works, celebrating a diverse range of artistic styles and genres. The SUMMER SHOW affords us the opportunity to introduce new artists whilst welcoming back gallery favourites alongside the work of Sculpture by the Lakes founder, Simon Gudgeon.
Discover how Dorset has inspired this exhibition - from Julie Oldfield's distinctive paintings on copper, which capture the ever-changing light and atmosphere of the sky and sea, to Penny Brown's intricate collages of flora, set against sweeping vistas created from archival papers. We are also delighted to exhibit paintings by Dorset artists Sarah Hornby and Marc Yeats in the gallery for the first time. Their expressive works capture the energy and beauty of the sea and familiar coastlines. You'll also be able to enjoy brand new vibrant paintings by Laura Rich, Debra Royston, Nick Andrew and Rebecca Guyett along with joyous ceramics from Elaine King and a thought provoking collaborative sculpture by Lucianne Lassalle and Tom Cherry.
After months of anticipation the new sculptures by acclaimed Belgian artist Marc Dedrie have arrived! We're thrilled to present these remarkable works inside the gallery, including the show piece 'Morning Has Broken' a white bronze sculpture of a swan that waits to greet you as you approach the gallery entrance.
In September, we'll be shining the spotlight on painter Stephen Bithell in celebration of 10 years of documenting his special relationship with Sculpture by the Lakes. Stephen will be giving a free talk and demonstration, sharing the inspiration, techniques, and creative process behind his work. His presentations are always insightful, engaging, and entertaining.
Other events during the SUMMER SHOW include welcoming back Penny Brown to the gallery, her fascinating demonstrations show us what can be achieved with a love of Botanics, archival papers and patience!
